Meet the team: Mark Brubaker

Mark joined the Portland Bologna Sister Association’s Board in 2022 and is involved with event planning, relations with Portland's other Sister City Associations and the City of Portland, and association governance issues.  

After a long-planned trip to Bologna in early 2020 was cancelled due to the pandemic, Mark Brubaker began studying the Italian language to pass the time until he could travel to Italy again. Three years and countless Zoom Italian lessons later, he finally made it to Bologna earlier this year and got to put his Italian to good use.  

Mark was born and raised in Southern California, and has split his time between Los Angeles and Portland for nearly 20 years. He worked as a lawyer for 25 years. Mark and his wife Kristina recently retired to live in Portland full-time and have more free time to study Italian and plan future trips to Italy. He has travelled to Italy many times over the years and is a big fan of Italian food, wine, art, and architecture.
